Repair Item

Modified: 2007/04/30 17:54 by yama - Categorized as: Chinese Version
How to repair items is very useful to know if not wanting to buy new equipment all the time because the old gear becomes useless. This knowledge will be important to have as characters reach higher levels in the game and don't get new equipment as often as at lower levels.

Edit

1 - Why and how to repair an item

Most equippable items in Perfect World have a durability rating which decreases as the items are used. As this number decreases, reparation will eventually be needed or the item will become unusable.

1.1 Durability

The number is formatted like 12/24 (this is only an example and it varies for all items) where the first part is the current rating and the second is the maximum durability for the item. When the first number is getting close to 0, you need to repair the item if you want to keep using it. You will get notified of items needing reparation by green, yellow, or red images (depending on how how critical the condition of the item is) on the far right side of your screen indicating which pieces need repairing.

An item can not be destroyed if not repairing it (as noted in the FAQ). However, if the durability does drop to 0/x (where x is the maximum), none of the effects from the item will be applied to your character. If you unequip an item with 0/x durability, you will not be able to equip it until it has been repaired. As the durability of an item gets closer to 0, the value of the item also decreases. An item with 0/x durability is worth 0 coins. When repairing an item, the cost for repairing is as many coins as you would get for the item if you sold it to an NPC, so if you know the original value of the item, you will know how much it will cost to repair it.

Crafted items always come with maximum durability. Crafted items can sometimes come with bonus abilities that increase the maximum durability rating.

Items dropped by monsters come with 50% of the maximum durability, so these will need repairing sooner than NPC-bought or crafted ones.

The maximum durability of an item is higher for higher level equipment.

At lower levels (1~10), you will most likely not see any repair notices since equipment is changed so often.

1.2 Repair Process

All NPCs selling items (such as armor, weapons, or potions) have the ability to repair items.

The following diagram shows the process for repairing:

  1. Clicking this button changes the cursor to a hammer to indicate you are ready to repair an item.
    • To cancel out of repair mode, just right-click anywhere and the cursor will change back to the normal spinning arrow.
  2. Click on any item that needs repairing. It will top the durability up to the max.

Edit

1.2.1 Notes

You will not get any confirmation dialog when repairing and money will also be deducted without any notification.
