From NocturnalSun on the
official philippine Message Boards:
Creating a Perfect World isn’t easy. It takes time to make sure that every blade of grass, every gust of wind, every drop of water is as perfect as it can get. Because a Perfect World is what players like you deserve.
That’s why we at Level Up are taking the time to make sure that we can deliver on our promise of a Perfect World. And though we are as itching as much as you guys are to give this baby a test drive, we have realized that the proper localization of the game client will entail more time than we initially anticipated.
The need for more time is partlydue to the fact that the game is huge; in fact, it’s so huge that we ourselves were overwhelmed with the expansive content needing translation.
However, this unexpected change of schedule for the internal testing of Perfect World by assigned players will not greatly affect the open beta period which we previously committed.
It was a difficult decision to make, yet a decision that needed to be made. Instead of a half translated game with features that may not be fully playable, we are giving you a thoroughly-tested one, with the guarantee of total enjoyment, at a slightly later date.
We will be announcing the updated schedule next week.
Thank you for your continuing support and watch out for more Perfect World developments coming very soon!EditMarch 19th, 2007 - PW Closed Beta moved forward!
The game is not yet ready.
Perfection requires time and since we aim to give you the perfect gaming experience right from the beta testing modules, we would like to announce that the closed beta testing period has been moved from March 19 to March 28 to further test the excellence of the game.

EditPerfect World RP open beta to begin in March
By Alexander Villafania
PHILIPPINE online game publisher Level Up! Inc. has introduced its first China-made online game called Perfect World. Perfect World comes from Beijing Perfect World Technology Co., Ltd, which developed the game for 30 million RMB (approximately $3.8 million).
This will be the first time for Level Up! to introduce a non-Korean made online game, as all its previous titles are made by Korean firms, such as Ragnarok Online, RF Online and ROSE Online.
Level Up! Perfect World brand manager Oneil Buena said the game is an amalgamation of many aspects of previous role-playing games, such as World of Warcraft, Diablo, Star Wars Galaxies and EverQuest.
Buena said they plan to start the open beta test in March, along with the localization of the game, which is still in Chinese. However, Buena said the game also has an international version that is in English.
"We have no final schedule on the commercial launch yet, but it could be in the second quarter of 2007," he said.
The fully 3D Perfect World is mainly set in medieval China and borrows heavily from Chinese history.
The game features three races, Humans, Wings and Werebeasts, with each race having two classes. Humans would have Swordsmen and Element-mages; Wings would have Archers and Priests; while Werebeasts would have Werebeasts and Werefox.
Likewise, players can also join to become soldiers for Heaven or Hell, regardless of their race.
Buena, however, said one of its best features is its full character customization.
Players can also use a third-person view and a first-person view, depending on their playing preference. Buena also said the game will not be limited to just a flat area since it has "flying cities" and an underwater world allowing for fully vertical travel.
"Not only can characters just walk, all of them can fly and swim and they could conquer some parts of the map," Buena said, adding that the game has just one whole map that could take 45 minutes to run through from one end to another.
Buena said they are currently testing the game’s installation requirements but promised that it could run on a PC with a Pentium 3 1Ghz, 128MB memory and 32 megabytes of video card.
It is also being tested to run on a dial-up connection for users. "We’re making sure that it can be played even on a low-end computer."
Recommended system requirements are a 2GHz processor, 512MB memory, 128MB video card and 2.5 gigabytes of hard disk space.
EditChina’s Perfect World coming to RP in 2007
LEVEL UP! has inked a deal with Beijing Perfect World Technology to publish the first English version of one of China’s top 3D fantasy online games, Perfect World, after a contract signing held in Beijing, China on Dec. 12.
Perfect World, a fully 3D massively multiplayer online role-playing game, currently has over 100,000 concurrent users in China. Beijing Perfect World Technology Co., invested more than 30 million RMB into finishing the whole project over three years, according to a press statement.
The game allows players to move through land, sea and air as humans or mythical creatures. Air battles are also possible, along with features where player factions can build their own cities and design their own clothes.
"More often than not, great games end up finding you, and not the other way around. That was the feeling we got when we picked it up for the first time. I think gamers will be impressed with the customization, the graphic quality and more importantly the gameplay. I don’t want to give away too much right now, but there’s just something about it that calls out to you to play," Ben Colayco, chief operating officer of Level Up! International, said in a press statement.
Jane Walker, chief executive officer of Level Up! Inc., added: "Not only does Perfect World look great and will allow quite a bit of user-generated content, its PC specs and bandwidth requirements are quite manageable even in the local setting. We think the potential for this game is huge."
She expects to launch the Perfect World open beta within the first quarter of 2007, after finishing the localization of the game.
Present at the contract signing were Chi Yufeng, chief executive officer of Beijing Perfect World Technology Co., Ltd. and their vice president, Zhu Qi, while Syam Devineni, the chief financial officer of Level Up! International, represented its Philippine subsidiary, Level Up! Inc., according to a press statement.
Level Up! Inc. has stated that this game is only the first of its new content offerings in 2007.
